The Hard Way

Yep. I've learned my lesson. I will never again text during church. The things that happen, the things you find out when you do just aren't worth it. Like finding out that the boy you've known longer than anyone else (excepting three other similarly annoying little priests) is getting married. In a week.

This is the kid that you teased at recess, watched eat worms, and ran from when he and his friends got too disgusting. This is the kid that shows up in half your high school memories. This is the kid who taught you to be patient, who showed you that you can be a light, who first made you realized some uncomfortable truths about yourself. This is the boy who was your first conversation every school day for 5 months, who imagined a life where you'd be siblings. The boy who you expected to see first of his class on his mission. The young man whose farewell you didn't attend. Whose farewell wasn't held. And what am I supposed to do when I hear this news?

Turn off my phone, and try not to cry. What else?
